About us

We are not your run-of-the-mill dog breeders.  We don't have a "stable" of females and males that we keep for breeding.  We don't even have kennels!  All of our Frenchies are our pets and live in our home with us.  Upon occasion, one or more will even sleep in the grown-ups' bed.

hobby breeders

We started on our journey to be hobby breeders after participating in puppy deliveries for a family member.  Placing a wiggling puppy in the arms of its new "person" was such a joyful experience.  We researched the French Bulldog breed after falling in love with these comical, loyal, playful couch potatoes.  Do they fart?  Sometimes.  There's nothing quite like watching a puppy get startled at the sound eminating from his behind!  I mean, that's funny stuff!  By the way, the gas can be mitigated by a high quality diet, easy on your wee one's tummy.  We'll share with you what we've learned.

health tested

We purchased our "girls" as puppies from reputable breeders.  Each has been certified as "free and clear" on the French Bulldog Essential Health Panel: DM, HUU, JHC and CMR1. We require the same certification on each of the studs we use; they must not carry even 1 marker for these diseases. Finally, we genetically and health test each puppy born and will provide you with certification that shows each pup is also free and clear on the same health panel.  We exercise this rigor because we want each of our dogs to have the best opportunity for a healthy life.

raising pups

We transform our dining room into a nursery for every litter that's born.  Each puppy is socialized daily with other dogs and people.  We weigh them twice daily for the first week to ensure each is gaining weight appropriately.  It's rare that we even have a pup lose weight after birth, although many breeders will tell you a day 1 weight-loss is normal.  When they begin showing an interest in dog food, we feel them salmon and rice for sensitive stomachs.  (Remember the afore-mentioned gas?  We've experienced good results with this food.)  We begin paper training as soon as they can walk and outdoor training after their first parvovirus vaccination.  It takes some time for puppies to learn good potty habits, but we make sure they are well on their way when it's your turn to love on them in your home.

about the health panel

  • Hyperuricosuria (HUU) is an inherited disorder characterized by elevated levels of uric acid in the urine that can lead to the formation of bladder/kidney stones.

  • Juvenile Hereditary Cataract (JHC) are an inherited form of cataracts that commonly cause blindness in dogs by clouding the lens of the eye and affecting both eyes symmetrically.

  • Canine Multifocal Retinopathy 1 (CMR1) is an inherited eye disease characterized by areas of retinal detachment. The disease does not typically lead to blindness or vision deficits.
